Jolene "Jo" K. Meyer, 69, of Walthill, NE, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Walthill, NE at 10:30 a.m.; Pastor Toni Hightree-Nolze will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Jo was born on November 11, 1950 in Carroll, IA, the daughter of Myron and Norma (Kerr) Bundt. She attended grade school in Coon Rapids, IA, and graduated as the valedictorian for Glidden High School in 1969. Following high school, Jo graduated in 1973 as the salutatorian, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Dana College. She was married to Clayton A. Meyer on December 23, 1972 in Elk Point, SD. The couple made their home on the farm near Walthill. Jo taught school in the Macy Public Schools for the next 33 years. She was active with the Walthill Rodeo Committee, served as the event timer for the rodeo, the Walthill Saddle Club, Walthill Ski Club, served as the pianist for the Walthill Methodist Church, served on the Walthill Senior Center Board and was a member of the chain gang for the Macy football team for 28 years. Jo enjoyed, playing softball, trail riding with Gary & Kathy Huffman and Gary & Linda Warren, traveling, fishing in Minnesota, deer hunting in western Nebraska with Larry & Nancy Athey, skiing in Colorado, camping, playing Frisbee catch with Shady, had a knack working Bovine livestock, fixing fence, digging thistles out of pastures, gardening & canning, playing cards, soduko puzzles, reading, and playing & singing music. Jo is survived by her husband Clayton, sons Greg (Debbie) Meyer of Decatur NE, Jeff Meyer of Thurston NE, Clay Meyer of Thurston NE, Kip (Jenny) Meyer of Blair NE, daughter Cristi (Tom) Baumert of Elkhorn NE, her brother Larry (Dessa) Bundt of Prescott AZ, her grandchildren Aaron & Cory Meyer, Denver & Garet Meyer, Bartel, Josh, Kachelle, & Krystel Meyer, Beau Baumert, Heather & Jacob Meyer, Justin, Jeremy & Jason Meyer, 23 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Proceeded in death by her parents, sister Patricia McAtee, son Randy Meyer, granddaughters Brianna Baumert & Ora Meyer, daughter-in-law Gabrielle Meyer.
