Joy Bea (Pearson) Marks, 67, of Martinsburg, NE passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. The visitation will be on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE.  The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg.  The burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE.  

Joy was born on October 23, 1957, to Willis and Doloth (Miille) Pearson in Sioux City, IA. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newcastle, NE and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE. She attended and graduated from Newcastle Public School in 1977. On May 5, 1979, Joy married the love of her life, Kenneth Marks, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg. Together the couple had two daughters, Teresa and Michelle. They lived on a farm near Pierce, NE until 1991, when they moved to rural Martinsburg, NE. 

Joy was an active and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting blankets, baking, and canning produce she grew in her garden. Joy was more than your typical homemaker; she was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She was a selfless woman, who always cared for everyone more than herself. Joy loved her family dearly and loved spending time with all of them. 

Joy is survived by her husband Kenneth Marks of Martinsburg, NE; daughters, Teresa (Dan) Tiedtke of Wayne, NE, Michelle (Eric) Ekberg of Wayne, NE; grandchildren, Brodrick Tiedtke, Myles Tiedtke, Bryn Tiedtke, Lauren Ekberg, Lainey Ekberg, Larsyn Ekberg, Landen Ekberg; brother, Jim (Kathy) Pearson of Ponca, NE; sisters, Julie (Keith) Boeckenhauer of Wakefield, NE, JeriAnn Lowe of Salem, SD. Jolene Pearson of Martinsburg, NE; brothers-in-law, Doug (Roxanne) Marks, Fred (Vicky) Marks, Scott (Patty) Marks; sisters-in-law, Karen (Gael) Kennedy, Kathy Marks; many nieces and nephews; an honorary child, Ana Tinajero-Biederman and honorary grandchild, Kenyah Biederman. 

Joy is preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Edwin (Sherry) Marks.
