Judith A. Meyer, 85, of Bancroft, NE passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE.  The funeral for Judy will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft.  Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home.

Judith Aline (Dye) Meyer was born on June 17, 1939, to Claire and Esther (Hansen) Dye in Sioux City, IA. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Central High in 1958. She worked as a legal secretary in Sioux City starting her junior year of high school until she was twenty-three where she used her knowledge of reading and writing shorthand. She took the bus to and from work and paid her parent's rent.

Judy married Perry Meyer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on June 9, 1962. Now living forty-five minutes from her parents with no driver’s license, Judy had to teach herself to drive. She took her driver’s test when she was eight months pregnant with her first daughter. She hated the bumpy bridge from South Sioux City to Sioux City, but she finally could drive it.

Judy and Perry were married for 36 years until Perry passed away in 1998. They had five daughters, Laurie, Renee, Karin, Julie, and Jennifer. They lived in several different houses in Bancroft before they built their home at 740 Vine Street. Judy was a homemaker. She was a Girl Scout leader. Judy was also an accomplished pianist and organist. She always was reading a book. If you ever needed a book to read, Judy would grab one and tell you a little about it and even more about the author. She had her very own supply of books on her shelves, by the couch, and by her bedside. Judy had beautiful handwriting and always wanted to have been a teacher.

Judy was a fabulous cook. She made the best potato salad, spaghetti, meatloaf, and any other foods. She loved hosting holidays for family and often included friends. Judy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. In earlier years, she played the piano for the Sunday School and church. She taught catechism. She was also an active member of St. Paul’s Altar Guild for over thirty years.

Judy is survived by her brothers, Stephen Dye and Robert Michael Dye and all five daughters, Laurie and Delmer Soll and their four sons: Andrew and Amy, Aaliyah, River and Macadie; Zachary and Kellie, Finley, Sloan, and Asher; Jacob and Cassi, Brinnley, Brielle, and Bennett; and Clint and Sarah, Claire, Sophia and Benjamin. Renee and Mike Sjuts and their children: Alex and Ariana and Perry; Nick and Leah and Juliane: and Zoe. Karin and Brad Vogt and their children, Katie, Allie and Carsten Tietz, Noah and Sutton, and Lucas. Julie Meyer and her children, Dylan and fiancé Brooke, Isabel and fiancé, Kreyton, and Hunter. Jennifer and Jeff Miller and their children, Ella and Sophia. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Perry, parents, Claire and Esther Dye, her sister, Mary Bruns, and niece, Amy Bruns.
