Kenny was born on November 30, 1930 to Eric and Clara Brummond at their home in rural Rosalie. Kenny attended grade school in Bancroft and then high school in Rosalie, where he graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force September 7, 1950 and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he met Naomi Vestal and were later married on September 5, 1952. A daughter Fay Lynn was born on July 29, 1953. Kenny was honorably discharged from the Air Force on November 9, 1953. The family then moved back to Nebraska, where Kenny began farming in rural Rosalie. A second daughter, Lea Ann, was born on March 4, 1955. A son, Cecil, was born on October 3, 1962. In addition to farming, Kenny, worked for the Thurston County Soil District, building terraces and fanning oats. He worked maintaining roads for Thurston County. He also sold insurance for Farm Bureau. After his daughter, Lea Ann, married Roger Tremayne in 1978 he worked part time at Circle T Feedlot until he retired from packing the corn pit in the fall 3 years ago. But, specifically, he never retired. He worked until the last day of his life. He had continued farming, cutting wood, caring for his cows and calves, mowing and caring for his house and lawn. He moved a little slower in recent years, but it was always utmost on his mind to stay busy working. Idleness was a foreign word. His legacy is one of hard work, faithfulness, and a willingness to help others who needed a hand. His outside projects are evidenced for all to see. He has built tree houses for his grandkids and constructed play sets for his great grand kids. Countless backyard projects and others are a testament to his love and commitment to his family. Kenny was honest, hardworking, patriotic, dependable and loved deeply. He was always present at all of the grandkids school activities, whether it be a football game, concert, speech contest, or a horse show in which he was an integral part, always providing help and assistance to the kids prior to or at the horse shows. Kenny was a member of Farm Bureau and Fletcher Farley American Legion Post 191 at Bancroft, Nebraska and past commander. He was a past member of Northeast Nebraska Feeders Association and past board member of Dakota Thurston County Fair Board. Kenny's 3 years of military service at San Antonio and his devotion to his in-laws in Texas earned him the designation as an Honorary Texan. Kenny is survived by his daughter, Lea Ann ( Roger) Tremayne of Walthill, NE; and son, Cecil (Jolene) Brummond of Bancroft, NE; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jon) Luedert, Jarrod (Brad) Tremayne, Andrea Tremayne, Ashley (Sean) Christensen, Camron, Connor, and Amanda Brummond; great grandchildren, Emily, Alexandria and Joshua Luedert, and Charlotte and Garrett Christensen.
