Kenneth Dale Irey, 77, of Laurel, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Arbor Care Center in Hartington, NE. The visitation will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. The burial will be in the Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born on May 24, 1947, in Walthill, NE to Kenneth and Gertrude (Schrader) Irey. He graduated from Walthill High School in 1965 and attended Western Iowa Community College. Kenneth met his first wife and together the couple had three children, before they were divorced. He started his career working for Sioux Tools until the company went on strike. Shortly after, Kenneth became the owner and operator of J.D. Irey Trucking and ran a small fleet of trucks. On July 17, 1975, Kenneth married Juanita Pallas in Sioux City, IA. In 1987, the family moved to Massachusetts where Kenneth started working for Jamesbury Company as a software and machinist programmer. When the company sold to a Finland based company Kenneth traveled to Finland many times to help train them as the project manager. In 2003, they moved to Laurel, NE, where Kenneth started Eastern Nebraska Computer.
Kenneth was a quick-witted guy with a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed tinkering around on projects and loved a good challenging project. In his spare time, he traveled to many car shows and car races. In the winter Kenneth liked traveling with his camper to Texas. Everywhere Kenneth traveled, it was a guarantee that he had his two dogs with him.
Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Robin (Robert) Jasa of Laurel, NE, Nannette (Rod) Stettnichs of Sioux City, IA; sons, Alan (Sherry) Pallas of Laurel, NE, William (Sue) Irey of Lenoir City, TN, Robert (Kelsey) Irey of Des Moines, IA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and his two dogs, Cricket and Rosie.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; sister, Roberta (Norman) Prue; infant sister, one great-great granddaughter.
