Leonard E. Urbanec

Leonard E. Urbanec, 71, of Pender, NE died on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE.  The visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, NE.  The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.  Burial will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Pender, NE.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.  

Leonard was born on March 9, 1953, in Oakland, NE to Ernest and Betty (Franzen) Urbanec. He attended and graduated from Walthill Public School and continued his education at Northeast Community College studying auto mechanics. 

Leonard worked part-time at the Pender Care Center for a few years while working in the maintenance department at Pender High School, then Mercy Medical Center, and back to Pender High School. 

Leonard enjoyed gardening and doing yard work. He truly loved fishing, visiting with friends and family, and watching wrestling. In his spare time, he played games on his tablet. In January of 1996, Leonard married Linda Woodward in Pender, NE.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Linda Woodward of Pender, NE; sons, John Urbanec of Papillion, NE, Matthew Urbanec of Wayne, NE; daughters, Tina (Chris) Brader of Pender, NE, Tanya (Robbie) Gamble of Wayne, NE, Terri (Kent) Bonneau of Lyons, NE; sisters, Kathryn (Keith) Niederhaus of Las Vegas, NV, Mary (Loyd) Engelhart of Fremont, NE; sister-in-law, Joan Urbanec of Pender, NE; brothers, Robert (Susan) Urbanec of Pender, NE, Randy (Margaret) Urbanec of Walthill, NE; brother-in-law, Gaylin Woodward of Wayne, NE; and 10 grandchildren.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Betty Urbanec; brother, John Urbanec; 2 grandchildren, Christina Brader and Austin Brader.
