Lester Herbert Geisler, 92, of Bancroft, NE, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. The funeral will be Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery, in Bancroft. Memorial are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.
Lester was born September 15, 1929, to William and Edna (Sterlo) Geisler in Lyons, NE. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Lyons. The family moved to Bancroft around 1940. Lester was confirmed by Pastor Holman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. He was an active member of the church as long as he was able. Les worked for George Diedrichsen from 1945 to 1952, grinding feed and Clarence Beal taught him how to test cream. Les worked for Bill Hagedorn in the grocery store from 1952 to 1957 behind the meat counter. Les and Jeannette Bassett were married on August 16, 1953. In October 1957, Lester purchased the feed store in Bancroft from Bill Hagedorn. Dan Larsen joined Les in 1982, at the feed store and has been working with him ever since. He has always sold and represented Kent Feeds. Lester never retired from the feed business, still owning Les’s Feed & Produce until his passing.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie (Don) Sampson; brothers, Melvin (Jean) Geisler, and Orville Geisler.
Lester is survived by his wife, Jeannette of 68 years; daughter, Nancy (Clifford) Novak; grandchildren, Marton Novak, Nicholas (Katie) Novak, Mary Ann Novak; great-grandson, Michael Hendersen; sister, Margaret (BJ) Hammel; sister-in-law, Betty Geisler; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
