Lorna K. Wingett

Lorna K. Wingett, 76, of Thurston, Nebraska passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. The funeral service for Lorna will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. The visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Lorna was born in Pender, NE on November 11, 1947, a twin daughter of Edward and Viola (Heineman) Schmeckpeper. Following high school at Pender, Lorna was united in marriage to Terry Wingett on February 26, 1967. To this union one son was born, Clarance. She worked for many years in the family restaurant in Pender, and the Thurston Locker, before working at the Pender Community Hospital, and later the Thurston Bar. 

She is survived by her son Clancy Wingett of Sioux City, IA; granddaughter, Alexis Wingett of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Terry, granddaughter Alexsaundra Wingett; sisters, Jan Puls, Gail Harrison, Bev Fritz, Linda Burmester; brothers, Les Schmeckpeper, Gordon Schmeckpeper, and Stan Schmeckpeper; nieces, Becky Schmeckpeper, Julie Schmeckpeper; nephews, Dale Puls, Doug Burmester, and Rick Burmester.
