Marcia Joy Kratke

Marcia Joy (Doescher) Kratke, 68, of Wayne, NE, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Wakefield Heath Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Patti Meyer will be officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Marcia was born March 6, 1949 in Wakefield to Arthur and Clara (Nelson) Doescher. She graduated from high school in 1967 and went to the Omaha Business College and graduated in 1968. Marcia married Gene Kratke on April 28, 1968 at Salem Lutheran Church. Marcia served Salem Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and church council. She also served the Wakefield community by being on the Park Board, Planning and Zoning Board, Fireman’s Auxiliary, School Board President, and board member. She loved watching all kinds of sports, including the Huskers and her grandchildren’s sports. Marcia is survived by her husband Gene Kratke of Wayne, NE; son, Todd (Carol) Kratke of Ponca, NE; daughter, Wendy (Greg) Owens of Wayne, NE, Lynn (Jeff) Reed of Dakota City, NE; grandchildren, Alexis Owens, Dana Kratke, Grant Lander, Tommy and Sofia Reed, Andrew (Nicole) O’Neill and Alex O’Neill; one great grandchild; sister, Garna (DeWayne) Klausen of Springfield, NE and Julie (Ray) Lund of LaCygne, KS, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
