Margie was born April 6th, 1921 to Henry and Clara (Von Seggern) Claussen at her home. Margie attended a country school through the eighth grade. She married Glenn Gilster on September 8th, 1938 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Pender. They lived near Bancroft on a farm for one year, then moved northeast of Pender. In 1944, they settled on a farm southwest of Pender. The couple was blessed with two sons, Gary and Keith. Margie and Glenn moved to Pender in 1977. Margie liked to help Glenn with the chores, which included feeding the chickens and the livestock. She helped pick the corn by hand, while young Gary and Keith would sit on the front of the wagon and eat their lunch. The boys also remember enjoying the smell of fresh baked bread and cinnamon rolls as they walked down the lane coming home after school. Margie was a charter member of the C.C. Club which she joined in 1939. She also belonged to the St. Mark’s Ladies Circle and held several offices. Margie enjoyed papering and painting in homes around the Pender area with Lenora "Toots" Gilster. Glenn and Margie loved to dance, and they attended every ballroom in the area, including the Dutch Hall west of Pender, the Pender Legion Hall, the King’s Ballroom, the Howells Ballroom, and many others. The two also liked to travel. Margie had a great memory, and enjoyed visiting, attending her family's events, reading newspapers and working crossword puzzles. She was so proud of her family, and they loved her very much. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Flavian) Gilster of Pender, Nebraska; Keith (Erna) Gilster of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Taryn (Jon) Vanderford of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kyle (Jennifer) Gilster of Falls Church, Virginia; Shane (Lissette) Gilster of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Lara (Gilster) Duff of San Diego, California; six great-grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia Vanderford, Curran and Connor Gilster, and Maya and Anya Gilster; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Kinlund of Hooper, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
