Marlan A. Hingst, 83, of Emerson, NE died on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE; Pastor Charlotte Eversoll will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask. Marlan was born on January 15, 1937 at his grandparent’s home northeast of Emerson, NE, the son of Harland and Marie (Reher) Hingst. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Marlan attended country school and graduated from Emerson High School in 1954. He worked at Mattison John Deere until he started farming on his own in 1958. On October 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Judith Larson at First Lutheran Church in Allen, NE. To this union nine children were born: Cathy, Arlan, Gaylen, Eileen, Kevin, Delwin, Marleen, Juleen and Kristine. In 1977, they moved to the home place near Emerson. He loved farming, woodworking, playing cards, especially pitch and pinochle. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Judy of Emerson; children, Cathy (Tom) Duncan of Emerson, NE, Arlan (Bobbie) Hingst of Emerson, NE, Gaylen (Cindy) Hingst of Emerson, NE, Eileen (Jay) Gaunt of Omaha, NE, Kevin (Joni) Hingst of Emerson, NE, Delwin Hingst (Becky Clausen) of Hooper, NE, Marleen Hingst (Keith Morse) of Omaha, NE, Juleen Brand of Norfolk, NE, Kristine (Mike) Christiansen of Plainview, NE; 37 grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Verlan (Vicky) Hingst of Allen, NE, Lelan Hingst of Concord, NE, Dennis (Ida) Hingst of Holdrege, NE; sisters, Reta (Jim) Bodwell of Pilger, NE, Diane (Dave) Jensen of Stanton, NE, Carolyn (Dean) Sievers of Holdrege, NE; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marlan is preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Marie; brother, Rollan; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hingst and Judy Hingst.
