Marvin Duncan, 95, of Hubbard, NE, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, IA due to a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. The visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. The burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

Marvin was born November 29, 1923 in Emerson, NE to Huey and Doris (Milton) Duncan. He graduated from Thurston High School and due to WWII, he enrolled in the Army. On April 28, 1946, two days after his discharge, Marvin married Lavern Wallace in Pleasanton, KS.

Marvin farmed in his early years, then worked for the State of Nebraska as a scale officer. Later he became a federal meat inspector for over 30 years. After his retirement, Marvin continued to plant gardens and flower beds as much as he could. He also loved to spend time with his family and travel.

Marvin is survived by his daughter, Meredith O’Connell of Lincoln, NE and son, Kenneth (Colleen) Duncan of Wisner, NE; grandchildren, Dawn Shafer, Shawn O’Connell, Briana (Jordan) Wilcox, Sheryl O’Connell, Jim O’Connell; many great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavern; son, Robert “Red” Duncan; granddaughter, Connie O’Connell; son-in-law, Jim O’Connell; parents, and all his siblings.
