Mary Lou Roeber, 70, of Thurston, NE, died on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. The memorial service will be on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church; Pastor Charlotte Eversoll will be officiating. Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary was born on June 15, 1953, in Jefferson, IA, the daughter of James and Jane Kae (Kinney) Christy. Following her graduation from Jefferson High School in 1971, Mary was united in marriage and had two daughters, Melissa and Stephanie. The couple later divorced. She was a hard worker, who enjoyed what she did. She worked for Gateway Computers, Blu-Jet Manufacturing, and most recently at the Pender Community Hospital. Mary enjoyed horses, flowers, gardening, crocheting, baking, and dancing. She met her future husband at the Eagle’s Club in South Sioux City, NE. On February 6, 1998, Mary was united in marriage to Eugene Roeber at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson. Together they made a great couple.
Mary is survived by her husband Eugene Roeber of Thurston, NE; daughters, Melissa Ann Carlson, of Sioux City, IA, and Stephanie Marie Carlson, of Harker Heights, TX; grandchildren, Jonathon Carlson, Jadien Plooster, and Sky Norby. She is also survived by step-sons, Leeland (Denise) Roeber of Emerson, NE, Leslie (Karen) Roeber of Homer, NE, Lowell (Shelly) Roeber, of Winnebago, NE, and Lynne (Andy) Ranschau of Sioux Center, IA; step-grandchildren, Holly (Robbie) Roeber, Cody (Callie) Roeber, Madi Roeber, Dustin (Amanda) Madison, Shalynn (Austin) Weber, Brenna (Dalton) Anema, Miranda (Cory) Estochen, and Melissa (Chase) Hollenbeck; and 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Ramirez of Jefferson, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was proceeded in death by her parents and one sister.
