Maxine M. Sherlock

Maxine Marie (Mattison) Sherlock, 89, of Emerson, NE died on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE.  

Memorial services for James and Maxine Sherlock, of Emerson, Nebraska will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE, with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.  A luncheon will follow the memorial service in the church social hall.  A private family burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE.  

Maxine was born on March 12, 1935, in Ponca, NE to Fay and Irene (Rahn) Mattison.  She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca and Confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson.  She attended and graduated from Emerson High School in 1952.  On June 1, 1952, Maxine married James Sherlock at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson.  Together they had three children.  Maxine and Jim ran a service station in Emerson for many years, until their retirement.   She was a longtime member of Emerson Rescue Squad and Volunteer Fire Department.  She was also a member of the Emerson Library Board and enjoyed painting, reading, and spending time with her family.
 

Maxine is survived by daughters, Linda (Lonnie) Ford, of Pender, NE, Connie (Dave) Duffy, of Wayne, NE; son, Ronald Sherlock of Emerson, NE; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim, and brothers, Don Mattison and James Mattison.
