Mervin G. Hamm, 81, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE following a battle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. A lunch will be served beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10,2 024, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. A private family burial will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Mervin was born in Randolph, NE on July 5, 1943, the son of Walter and Ethel (McCune) Hamm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Winside Methodist Church and later graduated from Winside High School in 1961. Mervin was united in marriage to Karen Deck on September 27, 1964. To this union three children were born: Joni, Pam, and Matt. He worked for fifty years with Christiansen Construction in Pender, retiring after suffering a back injury. Mervin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family.

Mervin is survived by his wife, Karen Hamm of Pender, NE; daughters, Joni (Kevin) Hingst of Emerson, NE, Pamela (Jim) Clifton of Omaha, NE; son, Matt Hamm of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Taten (Mariah) Hingst, Taysha (Kendall) Gubbles, Tamber (Tyson) Peed, Taryn (Anthony) Gustafson, Brittany Clifton (Dylan Venteicher), Anna Hamm, Kelsey Clifton; great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Kaysen Gubbles, Greyson Peed, Milo Venteicher; twin brother, Marvin (Maggie) Hamm of Nashville, TN; sister, Helen Hancock of Norfolk, NE; sister-in-law, Judy (Phil) Christenson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ethel; in-laws, Wilmer and Rose Deck; grandson, Cole Matthew Hamm; brother, Robert Hamm; bother-in-law, Rod (Patty) Deck; brother-in-law, Jack McKee; and nephew, Jason McKee.
