Mildred Dorothy Zeisler, 90, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away November 23, 2020, at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, NE. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. If you wish to bring a chair, please do. The graveside service will be live streamed through St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Facebook page. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask.
Mildred was born May 16, 1930, to Herman and Edith (Drews) Koopman at Pender, Nebraska. She graduated from Emerson High School in 1947. Mildred married Orville Zeisler on November 20, 1949, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. They just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. To this union, three daughters were born, Dorothy, Vickie and Barbara.
Mildred and Orville owned and operated Millie’s Lunch and Pool Hall, Orv’s Radio and TV, Orv’s Auto Parts, and Orville Zeisler Commercial Trucking. Mildred also cleaned for First Nebraska Bank, Emerson Post Office, Curtiss Law Office, Emerson – Hubbard Schools, and a few Emerson homeowners. Mildred is most remembered for her infectious smile and personality AND her delicious potato salad which was also requested for many special occasions.
Mildred was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s women’s group. She also volunteered for various Emerson organizations. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be missed dearly.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Orville of Heritage of Emerson; and three daughters, Dorothy (Wayne) Oetken of Madison, South Dakota; Vickie (Mike) Loofe of Wakefield, Nebraska; and Barbara (Kevin) Stewart of Emerson, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great grandchild and one great, great grandchild on the way; half-sister Becky (Bob) Comstock of Green Valley, Arizona; step-sister ReAnn Forsberg of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Jill Koopman, Cathy Kruse, Millie Koopman, and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Adella (Stuckenschmidt) Koopman, one son-in-law Brad Schwarten, four sisters, three brothers, four step-sisters, and one step-brother.
