Norma Benson

September 25, 1924 — February 2, 2019

Norma R. (Geuder) Elmquist Benson, 94, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender. Per Norma’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Norma was born September 25, 1924 in Guttenberg, IA to William and Minnie (Petersen) Geuder. She graduated from Guttenberg High School 1941. During WWII, Norma worked as an assembler in an aircraft factory in California. She married Leonard Elmquist in 1942 in Yuma, AZ. The couple had four children, Dale, Bill, Barbara and Pamela. She later married Donald Benson. Norma loved golf and rose gardening. Norma was a member of Oakland Country Club and Twin Creeks Golf Club. She was the winner of the State Medallion Tournament in Arizona, the Women's League Golf Champion at Beemer Country Club and Oakland Country Club, Nebraska State Best Ball Tournament winner in 1975. Norma was also a member of the Hiking Club of Green Valley in Arizona and the United Church of Pender in Pender. She is survived by her sons, Dale (Grace) Elmquist of Green Valley, AZ and Bill Elmquist of Lincoln, NE; three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard and Donald; daughters, Barbara in 1972 and Pamela in 1992; brother, Bill Geuder; sister, Dorothy Geuder.
