Philip “Flip” E. Hetrick, 71, of Walthill, NE passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at an Omaha hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill; Pastor Brion Tolzman will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. The burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh- Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Flip was born September 24, 1945 in Onawa, IA to Philip H. and Marjorie (Morse) Hetrick and baptized into the Methodist faith in Sioux City, IA in 1945. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School. Flip married the love of his life, Karen Swanson, on December 14, 1967 and made their home in Walthill. He worked at IBP for 31 years, and was part-time at Cooney Fertilizer. He was also a union member of local 222. Flip had a petting zoo for many years. Flip enjoyed being outside fishing, swimming, and gardening. He also enjoyed gambling and watching westerns. Flip loved his animals, John Deere equipment and was an avid Husker and Buffalo Bills fan. Flip is survived by his wife Karen Hetrick of Walthill, NE; sons, Jeff Bradley of Indianola, IA, Mike Bradley of Niceville, FL; daughters, Melissa (Tim) Ruge of Decatur, NE, Robin (Scott) Davis of Hubbard, NE, Jill (Tom) Ruge of Lake Park, IA; sisters, Janice (Bill) Sampson of Sioux City, IA, Janet Dowdy of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Marc (Beth) Hetrick of Monument, CO, Greg (Joy) Hetrick of Rice, MN, Jack (Kim) Hetrick of Walthill, NE; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Marjorie Hetrick and brother, Chuck Hetrick.
