Phyllis Louise (Van Nest) Blair, 92, of Pender, NE, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her home. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home and continue until the time of service. The burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Phyllis was born in Brownville, NE on December 19, 1925 to Omer and Alice (Degman) Van Nest. She graduated from Brownville High School. Phyllis attended the Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing in Gretna, NE graduating September 6, 1951. She worked as an RN for over 50 years, starting at the Winnebago Hospital and later working at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, IA. Phyllis married Neil Terhune, Sr. in Omaha, NE and the couple had three children. Phyllis later married Jim Blair. She enjoyed sewing, reading, vegetable gardening, and canning her produce. Phyllis loved country music, especially Johnny Cash. She could speak fluent German and French and loved telling stories of the good old days. Most importantly, Phyllis cherished spending time with her family. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Neil (Paige) Terhune of Helena, MT and James Terhune of Norfolk, NE; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Blair; and daughter, Kathleen.
