Rae C. Sunderman

Rae Charlene (Hunn) Sunderman, 71, of Thurston, NE died on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE.  The memorial Mass will be on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, NE.  Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Emerson, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home. 

Rae was born on October 10, 1952, to Ralph and Rose (Schurman) Hunn, in Sturgis, SD. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Emerson, NE. On October 22, 1970, Rae married Alvin Sunderman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. To this union, the couple had five children. 

Rae helped Alvin on the family farm where she raised her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family as well as others. Rae worked in the kitchen at Pender Public Schools and at the Pender Community Hospital. In her spare time, she liked riding on the motorcycle with Alvin and spending her summers camping in Yankton, SD. Rae loved her family, and her grandchildren were the world to her. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and attended as many family activities as she was able. 

Rae is survived by her husband, Alvin Sunderman of Thurston, NE; son, Mike (Marie) Sunderman of Emerson, NE; daughters, Jennifer (David) Brosh of Scranton, IA, Terri Sunderman of Emerson, NE, Jamie Sunderman (fiancé Sunil) of Wall, NJ; grandchildren, Andrew, Kiya, Mica, Melinda (Drew), Morgan (Garrett), Mitchell (Alexis), Madison, Sarina, Piper, Wyatt, Marshall, Joey, Jianna; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Drew, Adelynn Rae; sister, Roxie (Ben) Haldeman; brother, Ronald Hunn; brother-in-law, Vaughn Mackling; and many nieces and nephews.

Rae is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Richard Vraspir; brother, Roger Hunn; twin sister, Rita Mackling; son, Joseph Sunderman; sister-in-law, Linda Hunn; brother-in-law, Dan Krusemark.
