Richard Lee Brehmer, 73, of Bancroft, NE passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. A memorial service will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Nathan Henschen will be officiating. The visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Burial with military honors will be in the Zion Cemetery in rural Bancroft. Memorials may be directed to the American Veteran’s Park in West Point. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Richard was born April 3, 1945 in West Point, NE to Edgar and Lorna (Miller) Brehmer. He graduated from West Point Public High School in 1963 and was in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Richard farmed with his family until he became a welder at Triple C Products, where he has worked for nearly 40 years. He loved historical information, reading, and target shooting. He enjoyed being outside in nature and watching the stars. Most of all, Richard loved to help others. He could make almost anything. Richard was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Richard was survived by his sisters, Karen Gatzemeyer of Prescott Valley, AZ, Jolene Brehmer of Wisner, NE, Marcile Brehmer of Seward, NE, Brenda (Chris) Jasa of Bradshaw, NE, Dawn (Arlan) Schellhorn of Seward, NE; brothers, Gale (Ana Maria) Brehmer of Chile, South America, and Larry Brehmer of Broadalbin, NY; and nieces; nephews; aunts; and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother and sister; brother-in-law, Burt Gatzemeyer; and sister-in-law, Denise Brehmer.
