Ronald Wenstrand, 79, of Omaha, NE died on Sunday,August 8, 2021, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. A graveside service and interment will be held at1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. A memorial service will also be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Maple Ridge Retirement Community in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to Covenant Cedars Bible Camp.
Ronald was born on November 24, 1941, in Wakefield to Carl Russell (C. R.) and Irene (Tell) Wenstrand. The oldest of three children, he grew up on a farm north of Wakefield. Ronald graduated from Wakefield High School in 1959. Following high school, Ronald attended one semester of college before deciding he preferred a career in farming.
On September 6, 1963, he married Rosalyn Van Klompenburg, in Orange City, IA. To this marriage four children were born, Eugene, Renee, Sharon and Keith. Ronald and Rosalyn farmed for 22 years. In 1985, Ronald left farming and became an insurance agent. In 2016, Ronald retired. The couple moved to Omaha to be closer to their children in July 2018.
Ronald was active in the Wakefield Covenant Church, teaching Sunday School and serving on various boards. He was also a member of the Wakefield Community Schools Board of Education and ESU #1 Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosalyn, of Omaha; daughter, Renee (Paul) Berger of Elkhorn, NE; daughter, Sharon (BJ) Foust of West Des Moines, IA; son, Keith (Cari-Lynn) Wenstrand of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth (Tyler) Koeneke; Yuri, Andrew, and Christina Berger; Kyle, Ryan and Eric Foust; and Maddyn and Charles Wenstrand; sister, Paula (Michael) Nanos of Lincoln; and brother, Alan (Nancy) Wenstrand of Sawyer, MI.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, C. R. and Irene Wenstrand; and son, Eugene.
