Shirley M. (Bokemper) Carder, 93, of Emerson, NE, died on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. Private family graveside services will be held in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE.
Shirley was born on a farm near Emerson, NE on November 18, 1930, to Benjamin and Viney (Strivens) Bokemper. She attended a country school in rural Wakefield, NE. On September 2, 1950, Shirley married Charles Wes Carder in Wakefield. To this union, the couple had four children.
Shirley was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson. In her spare time, she enjoyed going for rides in the car, going out to eat, spending time outdoors, and tending to her flower gardens. Shirley was a wonderful cook and known for her baking, especially her cinnamon rolls, cookies, cream puffs, rhubarb pie, and chicken and noodles. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed attending family functions and activities.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Edith Carder of Emerson, NE; sons, Ken (Peggy) Carder of Royal, NE, Ron (Juli) Carder of Pleasant Dale, NE, Larry Carder of Lincoln, NE; sister Joanne Flammang; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Viney Bokemper; husband, Charles Carder; 12 brothers and sisters; and 5 nephews.
