Teddy L. Von Seggern

Teddy LaRoy Von Seggern, 88, of Pender, NE, died on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Wisner Care Center in Wisner, NE.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (1258 M Ave, Pender, NE).  The visitation will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender.  Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. 

Ted was born on April 13, 1934 in Pender, NE, the son of Roy and Leal “Babe” (Hill) Von Seggern.  He lived in Thurston until he was three years old when his mother married Fritz Schroeder.  He was raised on the farm west of Pender.  Ted was baptized on March 23, 1941, and confirmed on May 8, 1948, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Ted attended and graduated grade school at District #4 and graduated from Pender High School in 1951.  He married Carolyn Heyne on December 16, 1956, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.  He served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957.  Ted farmed, and worked at Powley’s Standard Station, Thurston County Court House, and Economy Market, until purchasing the Gambles Store in 1970.  He later worked at Twin Creeks Golf Course.  Ted was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 55, a charter member of EMT, and Pender Junior Chamber.   He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and served on the council.  Ted liked to golf, bowl, and play cards.  His greatest love was his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ted is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons and their families, Todd (Joanne) of Pender, Joshua, Amanda, and Marika; Tom (Marsha) of Atlantic, IA, Ashley, Tyler (Emily), and Derek; Tim (Lanette) of Pender, Rebecca and Vanessa; great-grandchildren, Theo, Oliver, Finn, and Carter.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Myron and Billy.
