Viola M. Kubik

Viola M. Kubik, 89, of Pender, NE passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Christ United Church of Pender. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ United Church of Pender. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Viola was born on May 1, 1935, in Pierce, NE, the daughter of John and Mamee (Fehncke) Schademan. When she was five, the family moved to a farm between Rosalie and Walthill, NE. She attended Walthill High School. On January 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to LaVern G. Kubik in Walthill. To this union three children were born: Duane, Rhonda, and Rita. Viola and LaVern farmed together near Thurston until their retirement. They moved from the farm to Pender in 1996. 

Viola was a permanent member of Legion Auxiliary Post #372 Thurston and a longtime member of John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston. 

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, LaVern Kubik of Pender; son, Duane (Linnea) Kubik of Thurston; daughters, Rhonda (Scott) Russman of Farnam, NE, and Rita (Tim) Krusemark of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Casey (Kim) Russman, Riley (Pamela) Russman, Tanya Jelsma, Lee (Cassie) Kubik, Sarah Krusemark, Jalen (fiancé, Allie) Krusemark; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Laverne Kellner of Oakland, NE.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Neal Kubik; brothers, Marvin, Darrell, and Merle Schademan.
