Warren F. Steele, 66, of Thurston, Nebraska died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Warren will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson; Pastor Gary Harris will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the arrangements.
Warren was born in Wakefield NE, November 21, 1951 to Forrest and Bernadine (Bernie) Steele of Emerson, NE. The family lived at Wayne, NE, where he attended Frog Pond School, then moved to Emerson, NE where he attended Emerson-Hubbard School until he graduated in 1970. He married Jackie Denker on July 28th, 1972 at St. Paul Church in Emerson. He continued to work on the family farm until he bought the Corner Bar in 1981 to 1994. He continued his love for bartending at the Argosy's Belle of Sioux City Casino and worked at Emerson Manufacturing after selling the bar in 1994. He also became the owner of Steele’s Trucking & Son and worked for Tom Guntren Trucking. After semi-retiring he became employed at the Iron Horse Casino so he can be a part of the bar scene to visit, meet new people and tell jokes.
Warren is survived by his wife Jackie of Thurston, NE; son Doug Steele (Patti Strawn) of McCook Lake, SD and children Willis, Jackson and Bella Strawn; daughter Amy (Stephen) Munderloh of Wakefield, NE and children Anthony and Lauren; son Dustin (Jessique) and their children Drake, Jack and Leni. He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy (Don) Starzl of Yankton, SD and Jane (Fred) Kellogg of Dakota Dunes, SD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Warren was preceded in death by parents Forrest and Bernie Steele. Father and mother-in-law Ted and Twila Denker, brother-in-laws Ronnie, Bill, Don Denker and sister-in-laws Bev, Lois, Twila, and Janet; Niece Teresa and nephews Merlin and Creed.
